1% Marginal Gain

1% Marginal Gain The idea of “aggregation of marginal gains” has brought unique revolution in some sports. Now the question remains, could the same strategy be adopted to experience change in everyday life? The principle of marginal gains is all about minor improvements in any process enhancing major results when all small changes are added together. It can be evidently understood thru an astonishing case of British cycling team. When Sir Dave Brailsford came up as head of British Cycling in 2002, the squad had almost no account of victory: British cycling team had earned not more than single gold in 76 years record. The pendulum of success dramatically swinged to opposite direction under Brailsford’s leadership. British cycling team claimed seven out of ten gold medals available in 2008 Olympics. Brailsford approach was simple as Synergy effect, he believed that if the riders improved every sphere related to cycling by just 1 %, then those small upgrades would yield cumulative r...

Between Science and Vedic knowledge

Between Science and Vedic knowledge Whenever we talk about the revolution of the earth, its spherical shape, heliocentric model of solar system or speed of light, our mind tends to relate these discoveries with some western scientists like Galileo and Copernicus. We often fantasy Isaac newton sleeping under a tree, suddenly he witnesses an apple falls on the ground and discover gravity. But, only a few people are aware that famous Hindu scholar  Bhaskaracharya, in his book “Surya Siddhanta ” had mentioned: ‘ Objects fall on the earth due to a force of attraction by the earth. Therefore, the earth, planets, constellations, moon and sun are held in orbit due to this attraction.’  It was not until twelve century later (in 1687) Sir Isaac Newton discovered (or rediscover) this fact and named it ‘the law of gravity.’ Bhaskaracharya also calculated the time taken by the Earth to go round Sun up to the 9th decimal place, and  according to his calculation , it’s 365.258756...

A Tale of Love

Ah, first day? Someone asked me Yes. I replied Forwarding hand he said ‘My name is Anirudh….Anirudh khadka.   ‘Hi I’m Sopnil…..Sopnil Shah’    Shaking hand I said in same style ‘Unique name’, he said   I nodded.  This was the first day I meet Anirudh. Even then I was unaware that this short acquaintance at college entrance would lead to a life time of friendship. I was very happy to find friend like him. Day by day our friendship bequeathed us new experience and spirit. That day I was invited to Anirudh’s house. His mother told me that he always chitchats about me. I felt very happy to hear that. Like all typical Nepalese mothers she began to ask about my family, parents and I kept on answering. At same time pressure cooker disturbed our conversation…hiss hiss… hiss…..hiss….. ‘Just a minute babu I will come’ she said and headed towards kitchen. Taking benefit of situation I and Anirudh went to his room.  I look around; his room was w...

Heart of Giving

M aybe I have the bad tendency to find always people that indeed have some problems in their life but they are rather like me and they are nice. They're not being like the most others. And well, I just meet them; I'm not constantly looking out for such people. I'm someone that quickly starts to honestly care about a person and I always try to help the best I can..... And what can I help, I can help with words -the most people I meet, and they are okay. I just got words to help and it's always depending on it if they are in touch with me or not. Whenever one of them is in bad trouble, or even close to something like killing themselves I wish I could get there somehow and take care of them or so I could really do something! Not just sit here and wait for a message, having to guess if they're still ok or not. It makes me go crazy when I am impotent to help people.     Its afternoon already. The sun is radiating on his face and his throat is dehydrated. But he ca...

Creating New Nepal

Communism supposes that everyone can have an equal share in things such as wealth. Obviously, this seems ideal, genuinely it is impractical. In nature we see there is diversity ubiquitously, and everything is not equal. For instance in our own bodies there are some parts that are of more crucial to us than others. We would look after our face   as our own life, but we cut away our fingernails.   If you think simply, if this equality were literally attainable, it would then be hardly possible to sustain it. It would very easily be knocked out of this fake balance. Since, natural equilibrium in universe is not for all things to be equal.   In context to Nepal, today our country seek   moral order through communism. Because democracy has shrinkage the feeling of sacrifice; people want what they want. These days, people do frequent strike, give bribe, cuckold tax, import illegally, involve in red tape and still ask for freedom, what else do they want to plunder f...
